John Hackett, Godan (5th Dan) Chief Instructor
Sensei John has been a full time professional karate instructor since February 2001
and formed Authentic Shotokan Karate Australia in 2004.

      

Sensei began his karate career in the mid 1970's. Sensei John's earlier Black Belt Grading Certificates were issued by :

  • Yondan Australian Federation of Traditional Karate

  • Sandan Australian Federation of Traditional Karate

  • Nidan Shotokan Karate-Do International Federation

  • Shodan Shotokan Karate-Do International Federation

  • Shodan Nihon Shotokan Karate

As well as his background in Shotokan Karate Sensei John Hackett has previously practiced the arts of Judo and Wu Shu (Chinese Kung Fu).

Sensei has the following teaching, training and coaching qualifications

  • Australian Sports Commission, National Coaching Accreditation Scheme, Level 1 Coaching General Principles

  • Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training. This is a teaching - training qualification that Sensei gained through  his studies at the tertiary learning institution TAFE.

  • CN404 Instructional Skills Course (TAFE)

  • March 2007 - Present accredited Community Coach with the Australian Sports Commission's Active After-School Communities Program

  • 2003 - June 2007 Coach Karate Level 1 - Australian Sports Commission, National Coaching Accreditation Scheme. As ASKA no longer takes part in competition based karate activities Sensei has not renewed this qualification.

  • 2005 - 2006 Sensei designed and delivered a Martial Arts Specific, Level 1 Coaching General Principles Course. Sensei John delivered this course as a distance education course through the Central Queensland Institute of TAFE. Whilst delivering this course for the Central Queensland Institute of TAFE Sensei was employed as a teacher using his Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training qualifications.

  • Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian - Qld Blue Card

In Queensland, Blue cards are issued by the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian once it has carried out the Working with Children Check to see if a person is eligible. The check is administered by the Employment Screening Services of the Commission for Young People and Child Guardian

ASKA Instructors have successfully undergone the Working with Children Check and have been issued with Blue Cards.
