The grades of Godan and above will be determined and awarded by the Chief Instructor and the grading panel.
To be considered eligible for these grades students must maintain their regular training during the intervening years. Students are also required to produce evidence of any research they have carried out into karate or articles written by them or any evidence of information they have shared with the wider karate community that supports their candidature for the grades of Godan and above. This evidence of sharing information is essential for the ranks of 8th and 9th Dan where the time in grade can be reduced with consideration given to the contribution and sharing of knowledge.
